Kettle River Canoeing Historic Sandstone Quarry Wolf Creek Falls Hiking Kayaking

Banning State Park Campground

All sites are reservable from April 1st to mid-November. There are 11 electric sites, 22 non-electric sites and 1 camper cabin. This campground has long sites but the turning radius to back into them is narrow. Call the park office if you have questions on a specific site.

State Forest Campground

Banning State Park also manages the Willow River Campground on Zalesky Lake (I-35 Exit 205) within General Andrews State Forest. Camping is available April 1 to October 31. There are 36 drive-in and two hike-in campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis, each with vault toilets and a hand pump for drinking water. A tent-only group camp is also available for up to 50 people. Group camp is $50/night and can be reserved by calling Banning State Park at 320-245-2668. The drive in and walk in campsites are $14/night and do not take reservations. Please note that these are not in Banning State Park but managed by them.

Only use approved firewood!

Open for day use only through May 31, 2020

Reservations for camping, lodging and rental facilities through May 31 will be automatically canceled. No action is required. Customers will receive an electronic gift card with a full refund. The e-gift card can be used for future camping reservations or other state park purchases. It may take a couple weeks to receive your e-gift card. Parks are getting extremely busy every day and it may not be possible to practice good social distancing. Be extra careful in parking areas, around signs and toilets, and on narrow trails, fishing piers and bridges where people tend to cluster. If you see a lot of cars in the parking lot or at the trailhead, turn around and find someplace else for outdoor recreation.

Buy your vehicle permit online. Record your receipt number and place it on your dashboard.

Parking and facilities

Parking is very limited in the park. Parking is available at the picnic area and the boat landing. We are closed to overnight guests at this time so we are allowing additional parking in our campground for day use only. If you choose this option please park on the gravel site pad, not on the grass.
